Charming Oxford Pound with Gunmetal Coloration
GREAT BRITAIN. Pound, 1642. Oxford Mint; mm: Plumes. Charles I. PCGS Genuine--Tooled, EF Details.
S-2940; N-2398; Brooker-860. Obverse: Charles, holding sword and reins, riding horse trotting left; plumes to right, pile of arms below; Reverse: Declaration in two lines between two parallel lines; three plumes above. Despite the unfortunate details designation, this example retains bold details, with alluring strike and deep gunmetal gray. The noted tooling can be seen in the open fields, though it is not aggressive nor excessively defacing. The flan itself is quite compete, with no cracks or faults that are often seen on these large Pounds. An example that is certain to command much attention.
